The Art of the Cap

The character of a cap is determined by a small number of elements: the height of the crown, the depth of the fit, the angle of the front panels, the curve of the visor and the way the sides meet the head. A few millimetres can completely change the silhouette. Too deep, and the cap begins to cover the ears and visually compress the face. Too shallow, and it appears disconnected from the head. Too high, and the crown becomes dominant. Too low, and the shape loses presence.

Maison Kargani caps are crafted from an elegant cotton twill selected for its balance of structure, texture and softness. Its diagonal weave gives the fabric enough body to support the crown and preserve its shape while retaining a natural hand feel. The crown keeps its definition without feeling rigid, and the cap preserves the casual character of the original form while gaining a more considered presence.

Each Maison Kargani cap is fully lined in 100% cotton. The lining creates a softer barrier between the head and the exterior construction, improves comfort and helps protect the inside of the cap through wear. It also gives the piece a cleaner internal finish. An object should not stop being considered simply because a surface is hidden.

The visor is one of the most expressive elements of a cap. A flat visor can feel graphic; an exaggerated curve can make the silhouette overtly sporty. For Maison Kargani, the curve is controlled: pronounced enough to retain the language of a classic baseball cap, but restrained enough to frame the face without dominating it.

At the back, each cap is finished with an adjustable closure and a signature Kargani metal buckle. The buckle is functional, but function does not need to be anonymous. It is handled each time the fit is adjusted and remains discreetly visible from certain angles. Rather than treating it as generic hardware, Maison Kargani considers the buckle part of the identity of the cap - a quiet signature discovered through use.
