A silk shirt changes the way an outfit moves.

A silk shirt changes the way an outfit moves. Beneath a jacket, it softens the line of tailoring; worn loose, it gives a simple pair of trousers a different presence. Much of its character lies in the relationship between cloth and cut: how the silk falls from the shoulder, how the collar sits, how the fabric catches the light.

A question of proportion

At Maison Kargani, the tailored and oversized cuts offer two ways of wearing silk. The Tailored Silk Shirt follows the body, with defined shoulders, a structured collar and carefully balanced proportions. Worn tucked into trousers or beneath a jacket, it brings the fluidity of silk to the precision of traditional shirting.

The Oversized Silk Shirt allows more room around the body. Its relaxed shoulder line and generous proportions give the cloth space to fall. Worn untucked with the collar open, it has an ease that comes from the cut itself.

The character of Como silk

Made in Italy, the shirts are crafted from silk twill produced in Como. Its fine diagonal weave gives the surface a subtle texture, while the colour reveals different nuances as the fabric moves.

Fabric weight matters as much as weave. The solid Tailored and Oversized shirts use 17.5 momme silk twill, approximately 76 g/m², chosen for its balance of substance and fluidity. The Signature shirts use a lighter 14.5 momme twill, approximately 63 g/m², allowing the printed compositions to unfold with the movement of the wearer.

Details that shape the silhouette

The collar sets the tone. A structured collar gives the Tailored shirt a composed line. The Oversized shirt features a classic Italian collar, fastened with a gold-tone metal press-stud engraved with the MK monogram. On the Signature Oversized shirts, the wider Kargani 03 collar gives the neckline greater presence.

Australian mother-of-pearl buttons, engraved with the Maison Kargani logo, introduce a natural iridescence. On the Oversized Silk Shirt, a bellows pocket adds discreet volume within the balance of the design.

Colour, or a composition in motion

Black, navy and champagne define the palette of the Tailored Silk Shirt; red and white give the Oversized version a different register. The choice is as much about mood as occasion: dark tones sit quietly beneath tailoring, while red can become the focus of an otherwise restrained silhouette.

With the Signature shirts, colour becomes composition. Via Montenapoleone, Portrait of Geisha, BUDO 2 and BUDO 3 bring original artworks into the wardrobe, their lines and colours taking on a new rhythm as the silk moves.

Choosing and caring for the piece

The shirts are available in sizes S to XL. Choose with the intended silhouette in mind: the Tailored cut follows the body, while the Oversized cut already incorporates its volume. We recommend professional dry cleaning only.

A silk shirt finds its place through the way it is worn. The right one feels considered in every proportion, from the fall of the shoulder to the last button.
